test3-dsc03215Nature education is RTPI's only mission. We recognize that teachers have unique opportunities to help young people develop a lasting relationship with nature. Dr. Peterson himself credited his seventh grade science teacher, Blanche Hornbeck, with sparking his curiosity about nature and starting him on the path to becoming the most celebrated naturalist of the 20th century.

Remembering the wonderful, positive influence Miss Hornbeck had on his life, Dr. Peterson told RTPI's founders, "We will teach the teachers." We have been doing that ever since.

RTPI provides professional development to teachers through workshops, courses, and institutes, both face-to-face and on-line, along with publications and special projects. RTPI has the resources and expertise to enable you to make the most of nature in your own community and connect nature study to your curriculum, so that your students will pass the tests and come to know and appreciate the natural world.

We're also always searching for innovative ways to carry out our mission through partnerships with schools and other like-minded organizations.
