A-luring Tails

Q: Hello, I just found a small snake in my backyard here in California. It's silver/grey, about 4-5 inches long, and the head looks very similar to the tail. There are no real distinguishing marks other than the head and tail looking so much alike. I suspect it's a baby garter snake but thought I'd ask.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
