Q: What kind of Wild Snake in Northern Kentucky that I find can i Pick and the Snake not Bite me that has Poison, with the Wild Snake Looks?
Habitat: field/meadow
State: Kentucky
Habitat: field/meadow
A: Any time one picks up snakes, they should have a good idea of what might or might not be poisonous before touching the snake. Kentucky does have some poisonous snakes (Copperhead and Timber Rattlesnake)so it's good to know what these look like. Most snakes you'll see, however, will NOT be poisonous. Do keep in mind that a snake's only defense if grabbed, is to bite. Most snakes will bite when first picked up but often quiet down quickly after gentle handling. Probably best to simply observe snakes in the wild and if you want one as a pet, see what the local pet store has available. Thanks for asking.
